The voice actress behind Rocket J. Squirrel, Natasha Fatale and Dudley Do-Right’s own Nell (Rocky & Friends and The Bullwinkle Show) died this morning, Thursday, July 27, 2017, leaving behind a great legacy in animation.
According to Variety, Foray also was vital in the establishment of the Annie Awards (the leading awards group in animation) and ASIFA-Hollywood (“the international animation film society”) and a huge supporter of animation recognition at the Oscars — promoting the maintenance of the Oscar for Best Animated Short as well as the creation of the Best Animated Feature category.
She didn’t have a lot of lines, but she was also the voice of Cindy Lou Who in How the Grinch Stole Christmas and…
the original voice of Karen in Frosty the Snowman!
Also Granny Gummy from Gummi Bears
And a whole bunch of other characters that could probably fill a whole book. If you watched Western cartoons from the last few decades, trust me, you have heard this lady at some point in your childhood.
She did so many voices Chuck Jones was once even quoted saying: "June Foray is not the female Mel Blanc, Mel Blanc was the male June Foray.“ source
She was an awesome lady and we shall miss her. RIP Ms. Foray.
