Ruby:Well Nora is just like Yang but just never tired.
Yang:Sounds about right.
Ruby:Ren is just as composed as you are Blake until his past sends him into emotional overload.
Blake:Can’t argue with that.
Ruby:Lastly Jaune is just like Weiss.
Weiss:I refuse to believe that.
Ruby:You both put on this demeanor but under it is just a pile of flaws and insecurities you don’t want to show cause then you’re forced to acknowledge them.
WBY:…
Weiss:I hate how you know me.
Ruby:*smiles* no you don’t. Also the two of you are both super cute, like I can’t believe how cute you two are.
Weiss:*covers face* you can’t just say things like that!
Ruby:Sure I can! Hey Jaune, you’re super cute!
Jaune:*hiding face* you can’t just tell someone that!
Weiss: (to Ruby) I can’t believe that you believe in that.
Jaune: What does she believe in?
Weiss: she believes in Bigfoot.
Jaune: well everyone has something they believe in that others find ridiculous. I mean Nora believes in the Mothman.
Nora: *Shouting* Mothman is real and he offered me drugs in a mall parking lot.
Yang: Weiss as weird as it is to say Jaune is right. everyone has something, I think aliens are real and a lot of people believe conspiracy theories like that one what was it with the frogs or somethings?
Blake: *nonplussed* The government is putting chemicals in the water and its turning the “frickin” chameleons gay.
Yang: That’s it.
Weiss: So what do you believe in?
Jaune: Ghosts
Weiss: And what does Pyrrha believe in that no one else seems to?
I bought a book of these patterns and I’m desperate to try them. Turns out they want 40 count crochet thread and it turns out that that’s impossible to find pretty much anywhere outside of random websites.
I was going to suggest https://www.yarn-paradise.com/ for the cotton thread that would come close, but it looks like all they’re stocking is the super shiny kind at the moment. They’re wholesalers with very cheap but fantastic yarn, for anyone interested, it’s just the shipping that’s an issue…
Amazon.com is full of threads too, but if you want some control over the colour, you can totally buy white cotton thread and dye paint it yourself. You absolutely do not need to use the same yarn. Your results might be a bit different, but I would’ve thought any cotton thread would give you the desired stiffness and size. I bet that for the smaller flowers, you could even use embroidery thread.
One of my favourite historical phenomena is technology that’s based on a totally off-the-wall theory about how the world works, but ends up being sort of effective because it’s close enough. Like those old-timey plague doctor masks, whose enormous beaks are an enclosed breathing apparatus stuffed full of dried aromatic herbs on the theory that disease is communicated by the odour of decay – which is completely wrong, of course, but the masks ended up being reasonable effective at their purpose anyway because it turns out that sticking a big wad of dried plant matter in front of your airway is a pretty effective way to avoid inhaling aerosolised bodily fluids.
My favorite is the fact that scurvy was cured, and then un-cured because a bunch of perfectly sensible and intelligent people didn’t know what a vitamin was.
