the two previous movie series of Spider-Man always had it that Spidey was a Big Hit with the citizens of nyc in spite of the negative press/police departments actively hunting him down but we haven’t really seen anything like that in the mcu past Peter’s classmates simply being aware that Spider-Man is a hero who exists, like we didn’t see any slandering articles or angry officers which is WEIRD considering the canonical climate about superheros in the mcu right now so like….I really hope it carries over into this third series because frankly I love the idea of everyone in a post-accords world in constant debate about superheroes like ‘should they be held accountable for casualties’ and ‘does it make sense to give all this power to just a few people and force them to make potentially catastrophic situations’ and ‘do we even truly Need superheroes’ like any and all debate they can think of but at the same time, all the citizens in New York are collectively like ‘Yeah….but we’re gonna leave the Spider-Boy out of this….he just wants to help out….he’s doing his Best..’ lmao
The Entire City Of New York: after all the danger we’ve been placed in since these superheroes started popping up, since the Avenger’s set up a headquarters here- we’re sick of it. superheroes only prevent problems that they create in the first place and cause millions in damages doing it. we want our city to be safe!
Also The Entire City Of New York: we’ve only had Spider-Man for a year and a half but if anything ever happened to him we would kill everyone on this planet and then ourselves
J. Jonah Jameson: writes a scathing article about the ‘spider menace’ ‘terrorizing’ Queens and campaigns for his arrest and imprisonment alongside other ‘mutant menaces’
That Nice Old Lady that bought Peter a churro: *barges into the Daily Bugle office swinging her handbag with deadly force*
Citizens of New York City: fuck the avengers!!
The Rest Of The World: you do realize that your Spider-Man has been spotted helping the Avengers on multiple occasions and many believe him to be an honorable member of the team?
“I’m a gun owner. I have two pistols, a rifle, a shotgun…and a (now-expired) concealed carry permit. I’ve been shooting since I was a kid. I also support every single gun control measure out there. Why? Well, because of a number of logical reasons:
1. I go to gun shows, and I’ve witnessed more illegal cash sales than I can count. People bring guns to sell to dealers at the show and end up selling them to buyers in the parking lot who are willing to pay cash. No background check, no bill of sale, no formal transfer of ownership. Yes, this is happening, people! It is a regular occurrence and illegal in many states.
2. Every time I go to the gun range, I witness someone doing something extremely dangerous with a gun. I’ve been swept more than 20 times — this means someone has unintentionally pointed a gun at me. I’ve seen the wrong ammo used (ask my husband about the time he almost lost an eye). I’ve watched people shooting guns that they lack experience with or ones that they can’t handle (take, for example, a child or a smaller adult shooting a Desert Eagle semiautomatic handgun), causing kickback that can injure them and cause them to flail their loaded gun in all directions. I’ve seen guns jam, and people continue to fire them to “clear the jam.” I’ve seen people continue to fire when the range is “cold.” All of these people consider themselves “responsible” gun owners. Nope. And these aren’t exceptions to the rule — every single time I go to the range, I see someone doing something reckless and potentially deadly.
3. I’ve seen people handle guns when they are drunk, tired, hungover, or angry. I would never think of doing these things. It is irresponsible, and again, potentially deadly.
4. A friend of my college boyfriend pointed a loaded gun in my face because he wanted to show me how cool his new toy was. I dropped to the ground. He forgot it was loaded. He’s a high-ranking officer in the U.S. Navy.
5. The class you take to get a concealed carry permit in North Carolina is easy to pass. You sit through a two-day class, take a simple written test, get a background check and fingerprints through the sheriff’s office, and basically just have to prove that you can hit the broad side of a barn. That’s it.
6. The “hero mentality” is misguided and dangerous. Unless you have combat training, the “good guy/gal with a gun” is more likely to kill another civilian or get mistaken by cops as the shooter. I’m a decent shot with a pistol. I’m a great shot with my rifle. But in a life or death situation, where people are literally being murdered in front of me, it’s completely unrealistic to think that, even with all my training, I could do anything but add to the chaos.
7. The NRA is a terrorist organization. Yup, I said it. I used to be a member because they gave discounts on shooting-range time. I quit after one year because I couldn’t stomach the thought that my money was funding them. Their magazine and mailers are filled with propaganda about people coming to take my guns when there is absolutely zero evidence at all to suggest that is ever going to happen. Their recent ads make me sick and ashamed that I ever supported them. 8. The home protection argument makes sense to me on some level. I had a friend who was killed during a home invasion, so I get it. But an AK-47 (and other assault weapons) is not an ideal weapon for personal defense, and it serves no purpose for “home protection.” It was designed for military use. A a 12-gauge shotgun is a better, more realistic choice for home defense. I’ve never seen any peer-reviewed study/expert/article anywhere that can refute this. Bottom line: Assault-style weapons should never be in the hands of civilians. Period. And going back to point No. 7, in a home-protection or self-defense situation, you’re still more likely to injure yourself or have your own gun used against you. These are my thoughts on the subject as an experienced, licensed, and trained gun owner. I’m already a member of the Brady Campaign, Everytown for Gun Safety, and will be joining Moms Demand Action. I find it impossible to understand why other gun owners like myself don’t support these groups. They aren’t trying to take away my guns; they are trying to inject some freaking common sense into the equation — something we desperately need and that every gun owner should support.“
and for the fucking record, conservatives, stop touting places like israel and switzerland as “gun utopias.” israel and switzerland both have harsh gun control laws, much harsher than the united states, and you can literally go to jail for simply misplacing your weapon (which could then be used by someone untrained).
Coming from a country where owning a gun is illegal, the concept of untrained civilians holding guns is really distopic
Like if anyone found out you were holding a gun, even an unloaded one, people would literally start running and panicking. They would think that youre a psycho
Coming from a deep red state where you see someone carrying in public every day, it is pretty distopic.
I see a guy with a pistol on his hip at the grocery store and I wonder what kind of worldview makes him think he needs to be strapped to buy cereal and frozen pizza. I think he’s a psycho, too.
There are two situations in which I make extremely sure I’m going precisely at or below the speed limit:
I see a cop
Some asshole is tailgating me
This is both spiteful AND practical, because you can’t control whether or not they give you a safe following distance for the speed you’re travelling, but you CAN reduce the speed you both have to travel, having the triple benefit of A) increasing the likelihood that they’ll have enough time to stop without rear-ending you. B) lowering the speed of any possible collision and thus the severity and C) Pissing the fucker the fuck off.
if i was a pirate captain i would get a movie projector and play a movie on the big sails every friday night for my boys to kick back and enjoy some time off unless we were under attack
Pirates legit did the 16-17th century equivalent of this. When things were slow, they would put on plays, act out dramas of stories they knew, or freestyle. The most preferred model of original productions was courtroom drama: “trying” each other for piracy. The “accused” would list off their many, dramatically and humorously embellished crimes, and be equally dramatically sentenced. Sometimes there was a daring escape, sometimes just a really maudlin death scene, but a good time was had by all.
“Guys I wanna try something and if it doesn’t work I’ll switch”
I don’t play overwatch can someone explain what happened
This is a competitive match, Sombra’s team needed to cap the point at a very low extent due to her team’s great play the last round, that made things easier.
Sombra went into stealth mode which makes her invisible to the enemy team. She went around the enemy team to cap the point while the other team was unaware. De-cloaked because she cannot start capturing the point unless she is visible. Her team mates kept the enemy team distracted while they were losing the objective.
Made the game all the easier for them to win when they didn’t pay attention. (This is also called C9 short for ‘Cloud 9′ a overwatch league team that famously did this and lost a game they should have won)
Sometimes they have two forts in Aizawas apartment and throw pillows from afar at each other and sometimes they try and take down the black dragon haunting the kingdoms.
I’m also posting something for this picture on AO3 but I’m still figuring stuff out so – please be patient! 😀
Okay, so, I did manage to upload a fic on AO3 😀 I don’t know what I’m doing here but I’m tired and I need a nap so, sorry for the mess, I’ll clean up tomorrow and stuff 😀
Sooo, after the USJ Attack Izuku wakes up thanks to his healing quirk far too early and is not only confused but scared, the last thing he remembers being attacked by his older brother and Aizawa moitonless on the floor in a puddle of his own blood. Of course he panics when hands grip him and try to tend to his wounds. He almost succesfully bites the medical staff before Hizashi arrives and tries to calm him down. They manage to sedate him for a short while, his body working overtime to heal and keep him going.
After that, Izuku gets awefully quiet, reverts to his old snappy self and almost physically fights Yagi and the police when they ask what happened. He doesn’t talk and lashes out at everything. Hizashi guides him through at least one full blown panic attack, before Izuku finds out where Aizawas room is and just sits down right across from it.
He is refusing to eat, sleep or even move away from the hospital door.
Even when Recovery-Girl gives him the green light to come in and see for himself that Aizawa is fine, they had to work on him a lot and he’s still sleeping but he’s alive and will be fine in a few weeks – he doesnt move. A few people try and coax him into changing his destroied hoodie, get him something to eat or talk to him, only to be ignored. At the end they take turns in sitting next to him and watching over him.
Meanwhile Izuku is so far inside his head, he can’t feel anything. All he sees is Aizawa being squashed by the nemu in slow-motion while he coulnd’t do anything. He hears the screams, the sudden silence, replays every scene and tries to find a way how it could have been prevented. What should he have done different? How could he have saved the person that let him inside his home, listened to him, cared for him… It was all his fault. The broken arms, the messed up face, the almost death…
It takes two days for Aizawa to wake up.
Izuku sees the door open, Recovery-Girls exhausted but relieved smile and hears Present Mics unusal quiet voice. Aizawa answers equally quiet.
Izuku panics, scrambles to his feet and wants to run off, suddenly not ready to face his guardian, reality coming back sharp and bright, but Aizawas voice, rough and dry stops him in his tracks.
“Midoriya.”
He sounds exhausted, commanding and a little bit far away. Izuku flinches, doesnt meet Recovery-Girls eyes and definitely doesnt dare look through the open door. Suddenly he desperately wants to vanish and never come back, his blood draining from his face, following his stomach through the floor. What if Aizawa hated him now? What if he realized everything had been his fault? What if-
“Get in here.”
Izuku shakily takes a breath and walks into the room.
