Soldier: 76 on Route 66: Reyes was supposed to clean up the Deadlock Gang a long time ago.
Pre-Ashe reveal, I was totally interpreting this line as Jack insinuating that the Deadlock Gang lost power but was revived, either by a new leader or by funding from Talon or something.
Post-Ashe reveal, now I’m just picturing it like Gabriel didn’t make Jesse do the dishes after dinner and Jack is just staring at a sink full of messy plates and pans, disappointed that he has to be the “mean dad” again for making this new tumbleweed of a teenager do chores.
Jack: Hey, Gabe! How did the Deadlock sting operation go?
Gabriel, covered in soot and scorch marks, holding a furious McCree by his collar like some angry cat: DO YOU KNOW HOW HARD IT IS TO FIGHT 100 TEENAGERS ARMED WITH DYNAMITE
