Dr. Toshi/Nurse Zawa

So @thatnerdnamedlaura asked me for some heacannons for an AU where Toshinori is a Doctor and Aizawa is a Nurse. (she gave me a couple of choices actually, but this was the one I liked best!) SO HERE WE GO. 

-Toshinori had always wanted to help people, it’s why he chose this field

-Aizawa, while he wants to help people, did not expect to end up where he did

-Aizawa actually ends up inspired when he watched an off duty nurse save the life of a little boy during a store robbery

-The two of them work the entire hospital of course, but their favorite job is to work with the children

-They meet while at the same college 

-they bond over the frantic all-nighter cram studying in the library

-Toshi made the first move (not that he actually planned it, or even thought of it as such at the time) when he bought Aizawa some coffee and told him he looked like he needed it

-Aizawa had, at the time that Toshi handed him the coffee, had one of the worst weeks of his entire learning career, starting with his new roommate who DID NOT know when to shut up (he has no idea how he ends up friends with Hizashi later on) while he was trying to cram or finally sleep, The Incident on day two that resulted in a broken coffee machine (Aizawa really has no idea how he ends up friends with Hizashi when he broke the coffee machine during midterm week.) the series of Bad Patients during his interning, and ending with his cat escaping the apartment and long few days frantically trying to study, sleep, eat enough to live, and find his cat). 

-The coffee had been black as tar and from the good and expensive cafe on campus. Aizawa had been damn near ready to fly over the table and kiss the blonde fool for providing the life giving liquid. (Aizawa later swears this thought is a result of the sleep deprivation) 

-The library ‘not-dates’ become more common when Aizawa finally decides its easier to study there then with Hizashi singing in the apt at the top of his lungs

-This is how Toshi and Aizawa get to know each other better

-The two of them working in the same hospital later on is actually not something they plan.

-The first patient the two of the work together to save is a little boy named Midoriya Izuku

-Aizawa, much to the rest of the staff’s surprise, is a favorite among the children patients. The fact that Toshi is also a favorite not so much.

-One of the other nurses swears up and down that she saw a Eri- a little girl that Aizawa had on his rounds- give him a hand drawn picture and Aizawa smiled. Like an actual smile, not that manic thing he did when the older patients were being a pain

No one believes her.

-Toshinori may not look it, but he’s stupid strong, the nurses have seen him handle patients twice his size and width and win where necessary

-many years after working at the hospital, the two of them will go on to teach aspiring nurses and doctors

-Aizawa will never forget the look on Toshi’s face when the little boy they had saved together later went on to be a EMT and came in to thank them both for inspiring him to save others. (Aizawa may have also been very flattered and emotional but he would never admit it. He’d always been better at hiding his emotions then Toshi anyway, the sap)

-Aizawa is the one to propose to Toshinori. He does so after a very long shift wherein they two of them had just participated in a life-saving surgery that took hours. They’re still in their scrubs, just peeling off the bloodstained gloves and smocks when he looks over at Toshinori. 
He’s tired, but he’s smiling, his eyes have crinkled at the edges, and he looks so content and beautiful. 
It is perhaps one of the only times in Aizawa’s life that he doesn’t think before he acts.
He looks right at the triumphant pleased grin on his partner’s face and he asks “Marry Me?”

-Toshinori almost ends up braining himself on the washing sink when he flails so hard at the sudden question he knocks himself over. (Aizawa caught him and called him an idiot with the fond quirk of the lip and warmth in his eyes)
He says yes, of course.
