Please Help me Keep my Car

Hey, guys, I need some help really freaking badly and I
don’t want to ask this way but I have no other choice at this point.

My ex-stepfather is an alcoholic narcissistic son of a bitch
who, during the last two years of his marriage to my mother became more and
more abusive than he already was, started buying guns and knives and ammunition
and flaunted them at her. He would threaten my mother with these weapons, and
would explain in excruciating detail what different calibers of bullets would
do to a living human body when shot into one. He has done everything physically
possible to make life and the divorce as difficult as he can, to the point that
we actually fled the state for our own safety.

We are now attempting to get from him the documents necessary
to register a 2012 Nissan Versa in our new state of residence. And he is
refusing. He kept family heirlooms, family pictures, and even furniture just to
spite us. He even still has a key to the car we are attempting to register,
despite being court ordered to hand it over. But we need this car. It is part
of our livelihood and we cannot afford to give it up. But if we don’t get the
documents to properly register this car, it will mean a lot of debt in the
terms getting pulled over and receiving tickets, resulting in points on
licenses and insurance prices skyrocketing and even eventually losing licenses
altogether. And if we do not pay the fine, which we have no way to do, we will
go to court and subsequently to jail, resulting in a criminal record. To avoid
this, since he is clearly not going to hand over the signed document after
months of fighting for it, we need to pay off the car loan in its entirety in
order to have full rights to the title to the car. If we have the title, we can
bypass him completely and get the car registered. To do that, we need… $7,500.
There is no way we can pull together that kind of money on our own fast enough
to avoid the consequences for driving with expired plates and registration. So
