Those photos of trees full of cats are cute and all, but I think a lot of folks are missing a vital bit of context.

You know how it’s always a Fall or Winter photo of a tree with bare branches, so you can see all the cats?

Well, in Spring and Summer, the cats are still up there. You just can’t see them for all the leaves.

And sometimes, when they decide to get out of the tree, they don’t climb down the trunk – they take the direct route.

Which means that if you live in a neighbourhood with a good-size local cat colony, and they happen to be climbers, there’s a big chunk of the year where there’s a non-zero chance of being suddenly descended upon by a heretofore-unseen arboreal housecat.
