The
Shimada Clan is the only one with a royal family, so the leading role pass from
father to the firstborn, and those firstborn have always been alpha, rarely
beta… but never omega. Now omegas are actually cool because they’re really
smart and that makes them great strategists, but the close mentality of the
Clan saw the whole “being an omega” fact as a disadvantage, because omegas are
also the most empathic being and are really influenced by their own sentiments.
Hanzo was the firstborn, but also an omega. When he was young the whole Clan
thought that he couldn’t fulfil lead role and that really broke Hanzo’s heart,
especially because (since he’s an omega) being alienated is a strong hit on an
emotional level. Only a person was supportive and was firmly convinced that
Hanzo could lead the Clan… and that person was Genji, his little brother and
second born in line of succession.
But the pressing from the Clan was just too much. To fulfil the expectations of
his own family Hanzo completely repressed his true self and leant to put the
clan need before his own interests, especially when it comes to love and
attraction. He trained every single day to become the alpha that everyone
wanted (and it’s here that he practically forced himself to develop alpha
traits). He become physically stronger but on an emotional level he didn’t
change a bit… the situation got even worse when Genji turn out to be the alpha
that everyone wanted.
