With that said the mice would totally be mascots.

Exactly because Keith having cat ears is far too amusing.
And Keith just keeps getting dragged into the magic shit and allura feels super guilty about it and adores Keith’s companionship.
Meanwhile Keith’s pretty quickly adjusted to the weirdness and keeps sticking around because he likes allura
And I think I might have just described Star vs the forces of evil
If Allura has a spellbook/wand that Zarkon or Haggar is constantly after, then yeah it would work! XD

Maybe Keith’s the accidental magic girl who didn’t mean to pick up the magic wand of power, while Allura’s the experienced magic girlwho was supposed to have the wand but now has to teach Keith everything super-quick
