This doesn’t have to be in your cannon or anything but I just thought of this and had to tell you. Imagine the how to train your dragon scene where hiccup puts his hand out and toothless bumps his nose aginst it but it’s the aquawatch au with Reaper and 76 Giant edgefish gently bumping his snoot into dad76’s hand (Sorry to bother you!)

Well, it HAS happened in canon to a point, but that happened more in their shared youth. Jack more or less raised/grew-up with Reaper, feeding the whelp and probably the only reason Reaper survived until adulthood.

The two used to be very close and Reaper was….protective of his family to the point he perceived certain behavior towards Jack as a threat. Not to mention as Reaper got bigger, a kiddy pool of water wasn’t enough so young Jack thought dumping a salt water dwelling beast in a nearby cattle pond would work as Reaper didn’t want to be in the ocean as it was too far from Jack.

A lot of mistakes were made and a tragedy occurred….. but they used to be close.
