micheal chu is the head writer for overwatch! a lot of people have been generally concerned bc he’s posted about liking ships like gen/cy and m/eihem and like….as head writer there were worries he may take his personal feelings on ships above the actual development of the characters?
which is where a lot of the distaste for the genc/y lines abt them giving each other chocolates for Valentine’s Day is really sourced from I think; there’s a lot of characters that we really haven’t gotten a lot of focus for and even mercy herself doesn’t really….have a personality, but we do have these lines that are at least probably implying romantic involvement between genji and the person who like….did to his body what made him hate it
and so people were like “ugh the gen/cy lines feel kind of forced and weird” and so obviously anti sjws felt the need to flip the fuck out and be like “wow this is literally Just As Bad as the people who didn’t want tracer to be gay…these are such totally equal things……..wow :/”
and people are spreading around rumors with no evidence that chu got death threats because,,,that’s the way the internet does nowadays, I suppose
